Common Name or Meaning Cuming's Coelogyne [English Orchid Collector, the Philippines 1800's]

This species is from Thailand, the Malaysian penisula, Sumatra and Borneo in lowlands and lower montane forests at elevations of 300 to 2150 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte and sometime lithophyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to ovate, weakly angled, acuminate pseudobulbs carrying 2, lanceolate, acuminate, glossy, plicate, 5 nerved, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, grooved petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a terminal, erect to arcuate, 6" [15 cm] long, slender, 3 to 5 flowered, racemose inflorescence with fragrant, long-lasting flowers arising out of the center of a newly emerging pseudobulb.
